We used the Melexis MLX90620, which has a resolution of 16×4. The advantage of this sensor is that it is cheap, and there is some open-source code available (see below). RoBoard has built a convenient MLX90620 module that can be hooked up directly to a controller. It’s a little more expensive, but it saved me from soldering a few bits together.
